The Rich Hill

In Bolivia there is a city of Potosí that was once drowning in gold. Or rather in silver. In 16th century the spanish conquistadors discovered Cerro Rico - 5000 meters high mountin that was full of silver - and they turned it into the biggest silver mine it the world very quickly. Although the city used to be one of the wealthiest in the world, it suffers from poverty nowadays. The mining industry remained basicaly the only way of living in that area in spite of the silver is practicaly entirely mined out. Poor Bolivians every day try hard to find the silver residues the Spaniards left there before leaving the mine, whilst the technology almost hasn't changed since the spanish times - the main tools are still the hammer and chisel.
